Job Description
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Sr. Manager, Transportation Safety, to lead the safety efforts for our national private fleet of commercial motor vehicles and tanker trucks. Supporting a fast-paced, manufacturing organization, this role will be instrumental in ensuring our mobile workforce operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all relevant regulations. This leader will drive continuous improvement across our fleet safety programs and foster a world-class safety culture across 4 regions and Canada in a multi-platform fleet comprised of private and outsourced drivers. This position is accountable to the corporate level development and implementation of fleet safety processes, for maintaining compliance with USDOT/FMCSA regulatory requirements and Primo Brands standards.
Pay Range: $153,357 - $179,941. This position is eligible for an annual bonus.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive transportation safety program for our private fleet of commercial motor vehicles, tanker trucks, and third-party carriers.
• Lead the standardization of safety policies and procedures across regions, ensuring compliance with local, national, and international vehicle safety regulations.
• Partner with regional operations, SH&E, HR, and fleet teams to deliver consistent driver safety practices and performance tracking.
• Manage and optimize telematics systems, including dashboards, alerts, and driver behavior scoring tools to reduce risks and promote safe driving.
• Oversee driver onboarding and qualification processes, including Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) checks, license validations, and refresher training.
• Collaborate with fleet procurement and operations teams to ensure vehicle specifications support safety performance (e.g., safety tech, ergonomics).
• Lead or support incident investigations involving fleet vehicles, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
• Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including collision rates, safety violations, and near misses, to senior leadership.
• Stay informed of emerging best practices and innovations in fleet safety, recommending enhancements to the program accordingly.
• Coordinate and conduct various internal auditing processes to ensure compliance with both internal and external regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain active involvement in reducing company Auto Liability exposures
• Respond as needed to emergency MVA situations to include “On Site” assistance.
Qualifications
Skills/Knowledge Required
• Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
• Federal and state safety laws, particularly FMCSR & OSHA standards.
• Analysis and identification of risk trends, problems and solutions.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Possess extensive knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 regulations.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in safety, Transportation, Logistics, Operations Management, Law Enforcement, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience managing fleet safety programs in a large, multi-site or global environment, preferably in service, technology, or manufacturing sectors.
• Requires prior supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of regional and national fleet safety regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA, Canadian transport regulations, etc.).
• Fluent business English skills (Written and spoken).
• Ability to travel frequently.
